Job Description This is your opportunity to join a small group of industry veterans at an early stage, building the core product that will serve millions of entrepreneurs. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will deliver on the highest priorities of the company. You will work closely with the leadership team to identify and build technical solutions that make the right tradeoffs between customer experience, speed of delivery and long-term technical vision.
About You You are a "get it done" full-stack engineer who will take ownership of growing Level from day one. You have a track record of driving results; building software to fulfill business goals in the payments, lending, or related financial services space. You love momentum, accomplishment, and derive fulfillment from building things with purpose. You are a team player who can work in diverse environments including liaising with technical teams at key business partners. You bring a wide-ranging technical aptitude, an understanding of engineering principles, and a breadth of software implementation experience. The desire to work as a mission-driven entrepreneur completes your profile.
You will
Design and implement solutions for ambiguous, large, and/or challenging technical and business problems;
Prioritize intelligently and ruthlessly. Take a data-driven approach towards creating the most value over time;
Set the standard for quality and long-term code maintainability within the team;
Build designs and implementations which are simple, both scalable and secure, and include guardrails for junior engineers or third-party vendors;
Solve internal tooling and process problems, improving developer productivity and product quality;
Have vision. Envision creative solutions that get the job done and be able to communicate effectively around your vision to other stakeholders;
Assist in third-party technical vendor selection, contracts, budgets, and resources;
Manage different competencies. You'll work with designers, engineers, and whatever other resources you need to complete your objectives;
Get your hands dirty. Contribute to implementation alongside your team;
Take complete ownership over the quality of what you deliver.
We're looking for someone who has
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably computer science;
5+ years' professional experience at a technology company. Experience in or around rapid growth is a plus.;
Previously implemented APIs using RESTful services;
Proficiency in one or more of the following back-end languages: python, c#, java, go;
Proficiency with front-end languages and frameworks: html, css, javascript, vue, react, angular;
Experience deploying into cloud providers such as AWS (preferred), GCP, and Azure;
Exposure to scrum or agile product ownership and a strong understanding of SDLC;
Experience with native mobile development a plus: android, swift, react native, xamarin, flutter;
Experience with Plaid, Stripe, and other common fintech API implementation is a plus;
Experience building software for payments, lending operations, or other related financial services businesses and/or functions is a plus;
Experience building custom marketing, data, and payments integrations with third parties is a plus;
Emotional intelligence and exceptional communication skills with the ability to empathize, collaborate, and partner with a diverse set of stakeholders.
